I have experienced the benefits myself and now I get to see them in others which I find very satisfying.

My students tell me they can relax more easily and have improved sleep. They say they feel more positive and are able to think in a more creative, solution focused way.

Their improved strength and flexibility is obvious in class, and they tell me how they have transferred what they have learned to sports they practice.

How did I get here?

My route to teaching Yoga

cycle touring woman

I have been practising Yoga for over 20 years, I found that it helped me unwind from my jobs as tour guide and high school science teacher.

I used the postures to strengthen and recover from ultra distance running events and also the mindset practises to prepare for tough events.

I took a sabbatical from high school teaching in 2019 with the intention of learning to teach yoga in school. I thought it would be a good option to help students find balance in the busy school environment

I planned to travel, eat curry, visit New Zealand then return to my teaching job and slot back into 'normal life' ...then...I changed, and the world changed...and everything changed! I decided not to return to mainstream teaching and share what I had learned by teaching in an alternative way.

I am grateful to all those who have supported, encouraged and helped me as I have learned to teach Yoga in a way that I hope is true to the traditions I have studied but accessible to people who live in a Western world.

I haven't found the  'perfect' definition of Yoga or the 'perfect' way to live well. But I have found that following the physical, mental and spiritual practises of Yoga improves health on all levels and has allows us to see the world in a different way.
